Dr. Heidi Aaronson graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2008. While still in dental school, she created Tooth Day at Fenway Park to raise awareness of the dangers of chewing tobacco and the risks of oral cancer. Her event has become an annual tradition at Fenway Park, now into its third decade of success.

 

Her early interest in sports dentistry continued into her work with Bite Tech and Under Armour, where served as the primary dental provider for performance-enhancing oral appliances for professional athletes in New England. She worked with athletes from the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, Patriots, and Revolution, as well as Olympic athletes, on appliances designed to enhance performance. She has also lectured and written journal articles on custom mouthguards, and she has co-authored a textbook chapter on the subject of 3D digital impression techniques. 

 

As her career grew, so did her interest in caring for children. Then her own daughters struggled with nursing, and their lip and tongue ties went undiagnosed. That experience led Dr. Heidi to learn more about tethered oral tissues and to make their diagnosis and treatment a focus of her practice. Today, she draws on both her clinical training and her experience as a parent when caring for families navigating similar concerns. She has lectured on tongue ties, appeared on podcasts to discuss the topic, and continues to pursue education in this evolving field. She is a member of the International Affiliation of Tongue-Tie Professionals and the International Consortium of Oral Ankylofrenula Professionals.

 

Service has been another constant throughout Dr. Heidi’s career. She organized a dental mission trip to the Dominican Republic to provide free care to people with limited access to dentistry and has provided pro-bono dental treatment to Holocaust survivors living below the poverty line. She has also worked with the U.S. Army and National Reserve to help service members address dental needs before deployment.

 

Dr. Heidi was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Dentists in 2017. She was named one of Massachusetts’ “Ten Under 10” dentists in 2010, selected as a Boston Magazine Top Dentist from 2018 through 2026, and recognized among Incisal Edge magazine’s “40 Under 40” dentists.
